Disable the Label 2012July 2012
The New Mentality hosted 50 people, twenty-six participants were youth, most under 18, representing 12 agencies from across Ontario. Funding came from the Laidlaw Foundation and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS). Program delivered training in The Art of Hosting Conversations that Matters. “It wasn't until this week that I really realized that working in the mental health field is exactly what I want to do for sure, hosting and working in workshops just like disable the label! It was very therapeutic for me as well as others, I'm sure." Another participant said, “The conference was an incredible opportunity. I left with a wealth of knowledge and new ideas that I cannot wait to implement at group! As well, the conference was a great way to meet terrific people in the field and to connect with a number of CYW’s who are working towards making some very necessary changes in the field. I gained new knowledge and walked away with a number of new tools to add to my toolbox . I have returned to the agency rejuvenated, revitalized, and more mindful of the reasons that once motivated me.” |
